I’ve been to Baseball Tavern a million times before. They’re a relic of the old Fenway that has hung on through generations- seriously, they’ve been open since 1963. While most of the neighborhood has changed, you can still count on Baseball Tavern to be your favorite divey place to watch sports or pre-game a Red Sox game,
The Fenway neighborhood is near and dear to my heart. I went to Simmons College, my first apartment was on Park Drive, I got a job at Fenway Park & met my now fiance there, I could go on and on.
In particular, Baseball Tavern has been the traditional meeting place for my friends and I to watch the Home Run Derby each year, it’s where I learned to play Keno, and as a bonus, they’re an LSU bar!
Thus, my friends and I ended up meeting back at Baseball Tavern this past weekend to watch the LSU vs. Alabama football game. I’m telling you, this was the. most. fun. I think that I have ever had watching sports anywhere. The beers were flowing, LSU was giving Alabama a beatdown, and for the first time ever, I ordered Baseball Tavern’s pizza.
To be honest, my expectations for Baseball Tavern’s pizza were pretty low. As much as I love it, it’s never really been a place we ate at. (Getting vultured by the Domino’s next door probably doesn’t help either.)
Baseball Tavern’s pizza was big enough to fully split between 2 people or share with a group as a snack. The crust wasn’t half bad at all, and seemed like it had been baked in a pan. The amount of cheese, sauce, and pepperoni were generous, although the toppings were distributed a little unevenly. The sauce had a good subtle kick to it.
All in all, Baseball Tavern’s pizza was pretty good for what it is: pizza that’ll taste delicious and soak up some booze.
