I’ve lived in the Boston area for a while now, and eaten from a lot of different Domino’s. In fact, I have been to almost every single Domino’s in Boston and Quincy. There are 13 in Boston and 2 in Quincy, and the only locations that I haven’t ordered from are the ones in Roslindale, Hyde Park, Charlestown, and East Boston. I was even quoted in the Boston Globe, (small local paper, no big deal) talking about Domino’s. What I’m saying is, I’m kind of an authority on this subject.
Ranked in order from worst to best, here are my definitive Boston & Quincy Domino’s Pizza location rankings.
10. Domino’s Pizza – Dorchester Ave, Fields Corner
This Domino’s is not great. They have a history of terrible delivery reviews, although I never had a terrible experience. They are ranked this lowly because they are skimpy with their toppings.
9. Domino’s Pizza – Blue Hill Ave, Mattapan
Is this Domino’s even open? I never knew. They were supposed to be the Domino’s that delivered to me when I lived in Dorchester, but they were rarely open and eventually I was told they closed. As of tonight, they’re still listed on Domino’s website. The one time I did get pizza from here, it was decent. *shrug*
8. Domino’s Pizza – Boylston Street near Fenway Park
When I was at Simmons College, this was my “home” Domino’s location. It was never great but seems to have gone a little bit downhill over the years. I got a pizza from there last night with extra cheese that was completely underwhelming. They’re just one of these places that probably floats by a little bit on the fact that there’s a never-ending stream of college kids, but those college kids have a lot more options than they used to.
7. Domino’s Pizza – Washington St, Brighton
I lived in Brighton for a year and ordered from this Domino’s a few times, mostly at parties. I think that their delivery was just really slow, and it just wasn’t worth it unless it was late night. Otherwise, there were a bunch of other restaurants within walking distance, and they had competition since the Papa John’s in Brighton was actually really good. C’est la vie.
6. Domino’s Pizza – Staniford Street, West End
I got this pizza once for lunch when I was interning at a non-profit whose “office” was on the top floor of one of those super tall apartment buildings overlooking TD Garden. The pepperoni pizza I got was actually pretty tasty and they were generous with the toppings. Could be ranked higher, but I can’t speak for their delivery speed or consistency.
5. Domino’s Pizza – Hancock St, North Quincy
You know this location, it’s the one that’s basically underneath the bridge going from Dorchester into North Quincy. Their pizzas are perfectly middle of the road and get the job done. It is annoying that they don’t deliver to Dorchester due to the bridge traffic, but it’s fine because there are better pizza places in the area.
4. Domino’s Pizza – Cambridge St, Allston
They make good pizza, but the delivery times are rough. I used to get so frustrated when it would take an hour for delivery when I lived not even a mile away. Eventually I just started walking there and doing carry out, which was sort of a win-win. I got the pizza faster and burned some of it off at the same time. Their pan pizzas are pretty good.
3. Domino’s Pizza – Quincy Ave, Quincy
This location is good but mainly because they are good at delivery. Depending on who’s making them, the pizzas are always at least decent, and sometimes really good. They do a pretty good cheesy bread, too.
2. Domino’s Pizza – Old Colony Ave, South Boston
I’ve stopped into the Southie Domino’s a few times at 1AM or so after getting out of a late coat check shift, and man, these people HUSTLE. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to deal with the drunk Southie crowd when you’re sober and working, and the staff at this location are absolutely great. The pizzas and cheesy bread they make are good too!
1. Domino’s Pizza – Tremont Street, Roxbury Crossing/Mission Hill
The pizza was always good, the delivery drivers were always good sports about delivering to drunk college kids at 2AM, and they were the location behind my Domino’s birthday miracle. They manage to do all of this while located at a major intersection, next to a T stop, in a neighborhood crawling with students.
Congratulations, Roxbury Crossing Domino’s on being the best Domino’s location in Boston!
